Scope of Position
The Network Analyst II (NAII) is responsible for design, installation, configuration and documentation of network hardware and software systems within the network environment of MSHA and it’s affiliates. The NAII may also be called upon to provide maintenance support for escalated issues. Requires in-depth knowledge of various hardware platforms and network operating systems including AIX/UNIX, NT, Novell, SNA, Citrix, etc.

This position must be able to understand the technical relationship between system within the technical environment and be able to configure computers, printers and related equipment. Good oral and written communications skills are essential. Beyond the requirements of the Network Analyst I, the NAII must have working knowledge of WAN and LAN technologies, including Router and switch hardware and wide area connectivity. In addition, the Network Analyst II serves in the role of Project Leader. Must use project management techniques to develop, execute and manage projects and large or complex tasks.

A Network Analyst II must demonstrate exceptional customer service. Initiative, cooperation and willingness to work as part of a team is essential to carry out job duties. Maturity, patience, sound judgement, an aptitude for organization and excellent interpersonal skills are required. These attributes are needed in order to deal with the intense stress created by competing demands for assistance from personnel and physicians throughout MSHA.

As this employee has access to various systems throughout the enterprise, the strictest level of security and confidentiality must be exercised in order to maintain both patient and employee rights to privacy. Above average intelligence is necessary to comprehend, solve and prioritize projects and tasks that involve complex interrelationships in the technical environment. Persons in this position must be able to grasp new technical applications with a minimal amount of training and work with business partners to solve technical challenges.



Education Experience
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with three years experience in network design, project management, technical support and troubleshooting or six years equivalently in network design, project management, technical support and troubleshooting.

Physical Requirements
This position may be required to lift and move computer equipment and accessories. Visual acuity is required for on-line work at a computer terminal. Manual dexterity is required for keyboard functions. Although approximately 60% of the work is sedentary the position involves interaction throughout MSHA about 40% of the time, so the ability to travel distances back and forth through the enterprise is required.
