Scope of Position
The Occupational Therapist(OT), as a member of the rehabilitation team, has the responsibility for evaluation, treatment and discharge planning of patients. The OT works in conjunction with other team professionals to provide patient care, provide education for patients and their families, and assist with discharge planning. The OT may be asked to assist with orientation/training of new employees or with the supervision of OT/COTA students. The OT will also carry out other departmental duties as assigned. The OT must have the ability to work cooperatively with doctors, other staff members, patients, and their families with dignity, courtesy and respect. The OT needs to be outgoing and flexible to adjust to all possible situations, show initiative and good judgement. The OT must pay close attention to detail and provide superior levels of care. The OT should be committed to continuing education, upgrading his/her skills, and be willing to rotate to other rehab service areas as needed.

Education Experience
1. Must be a graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Program.
2. Successfully completed the National Registry Exam (AOTCB).
3. Licensed to practice Occupational Therapy in the appropriate state or eligibility for the appropriate state licensure required.
4. CPR Certification required.

Physical Requirements
1. Capable of handling light to moderately heavy materials or patients. Physical demands greater than moderate may require knowledge in the use of appropriate equipment and proper body mechanics and/or the assistance of a second individual.
2. Be able to provide active patient care requiring work simulation and activities of daily living which incorporate lifting, bending, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, walking and visual implementation.
3. Require physical activities according to the approximate time described.
Sitting: 60%
Standing: 60%
Walking: 30%
Sitting, standing, walking can be altered with dome degree of flexibility.
4. Visual and auditory acuity normal or corrected (with or without assistive device) to provide effective visualization and hearing.
5. Requires close mental, visual, and auditory attention in all phases of patient care.
6. Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, staff, projecting a positive, caring attitude.
7. Must be able to wear a respirator mask.

 Additional Information

Weekend and/or Holiday Rotation may be required.
